Not just a SAHP, but working out of the home

My husband and I just became farmers in WI. We have a 2 year old and another one on the way. Right now he and I are both at home, which helps a bit with creating a balance between our parenting "duties" and farm chores, but I know that will become more difficult when the baby comes or if one of us needs to get a job off the farm.

Fellow parents who work out of the home and are parents of young children...how do you do it? We'd appreciate any tips or resources that you know of that will help us as we learn how to create a good balance between family and work.

Well I am a stay at home/work at home parent. But I do totally different type of work that you would do. I set up my shop in our family room in our basement so I could work while my two year played and my baby napped-- this was when the baby was a newborn and she slept frequently.

Now that the baby is mobile and the two year and her need closer supervision I either only work while they are napping or I hired a nanny to come to our house 4 hours two days a week.

There are times I just wear the baby while I get stuff done, I imagine you'll be babywearing a lot.

Honestly? Productive naptimes and awesome grandparents. But if we didn't live near family I would do what the previous poster does and hire help or send the kiddo(s) to a small home daycare perhaps.
