Congratulations, Katie! I knew it the other day when I looked at your chart. That's why I asked if you had tested again yet. Everything will work itself out.

theboysmama ~ I do not use NFP but I would have said the same thing Annie did. You may be able to use the mucous patch rule. The only thing I would add is that you are only safe eod when doing that because semen could obscure CF the day after dtd. I agree, too, that sticky might be your BIP, in which case you may have more safe days. I think you can use sticky as your BIP if you have 2 weeks of alternating dry and sticky before your CF gets any wetter. There is a slightly higher risk of pg when using sticky as a BIP but I don't think it's much if you have taken the time to truly determine that is your BIP.

Which chart is the one when you conceived your DD from dtd on a sticky day? Looking at the chart when you conceived Emeric, it looks to me like you got risky on cd35 and that did the trick. You had creamy CF 2 days before that and that day so you should have abstained then.

MW, thanks for adding this. Yes, if you are using NFP, you should only have intercourse every other evening prior to confirming O so that you can accurately interpret your CF. It's not the end of the world if you don't but you need to understand that doing so comes with a higher chance to have an unintended result.

It wasn't "risky" per say, thought it was yeast as that is exactly what my yeast discharge looks like But now I know that my creamy and my yeast discharge are the same. Hindsite.

my dd's chart isn't on ff, I think I was using a paper chart (which I don't have anymore) or maybe was just going off of mucus and no temps, I can't remember. But I remember very clearly about 4wks of stick so I figured it was normal for me and as soon as it got more wet we abstained but....... she was meant to be.

Thanks so much for your responses. I know that a baby can be a result of intercourse but I also want to make sure that we are being responsible to the ones that we have.

YAY! so exciting to be pregnant. i know you didnt want to right now but it was meant to be. my last dd was meant to be. i was on the mini pill, bfing, and i wear a pessary (like a diaphram). so we were surprised. i didnt even know until 6 or 7 weeks along when i got the stomach flu and it didnt go away like everyone else.

such a blessing. congratulations. and now for some smilies.

The percentage rate for conception was small so this baby really wanted to happen. Things will be okay. There is always room in a family's heart for such a blessing and you have 9 months to figure out the other in's and out's.

Ah, ok. I hope my comments didn't sound insensitive. I didn't in any way mean that you shouldn't have gotten pg with your precious boy. I just meant that for CTA purposes that would have been a time to abstain based on what was on your chart. I have a hard time recognizing creamy CF, too. I know my sticky and my EW but anything in between is a mystery and I've been doing this for 8 years.

no, I'm not sure. seems likely with my cm and cp right now. I guess I'm just waiting to CONFIRM O, because I'm pretty sure that I did already. I usually get a big temp jump so those little temp rises aren't very reassuring to me.

Yeah, it's kind of right on the edge there. Could go either way. O does look very possible for cd12, though. Do you use FAM or NFP rules?

No offence taken at all. Just meant we weren't intenionally risky (which sometimes we are) I think that is why we were so surprised.

Unless she didn't O until 2 days later. Then the timing is perfect.

That wasn't just for you but for anyone else on here trying to figure this out. Sometimes it's hard for people to switch from the TTC mindset of looking for ewcf before considering yourself really fertile to understanding that for CTA any CF is considered potentially fertile. I probably emphasize that until everyone is ready to smack me but there seems to be a lot of confusion around that for newbies (not that you are a newbie).

I agree with everything you are saying. The director of our NFP program is a great example of the last part. They DTD on the evening of a dry day, CD 6, she O'd on CD 9 and got pregnant w/twin boys. Like I said earlier, babies come when they want to!

Just curious. How old was she? That early O and getting pg with twins makes me wonder if she was hitting perimenopause.

No she was 33 when she got pregnant with them. I've had the following quote floating around in my head since I got pregnant unintentionally: "The best laid plans of mice and men often go awry". We can make all the plans we want to but sometimes, things just happen.
