Nervous system: fight or flight

Thread Starter
I am looking for any tips for balancing the nervous system. I am constantly in 'fight or flight' mode and it needs to stop but I can't seem to shake it.
I think some of the reasons for it are that DS (14 months) has always been a bad/light sleeper and I am always nervous that he is going to wake up during naps and he is still up 2-3 times at night. Meal times are often stressful too. He is a good eater but very impatient and as soon as he finishes something and wants more or wants something different instead of what I gave him, he screams. I also am a very organized/clean person and of course now don't have the time to do what I was always used to do or have done so I also needs tips on learning to let go. I do eat healthy (as that is one thing I can control) and do take time to myself in the evening for a bath to relax. Please help me with any tips/resources for enjoying life and my family by getting rid of this 'fight or flight' mode.

Thanks!

Dr Lam's website on Adrenal Fatigue has lots of good info. I can totally relate... I would gasp and get sweaty under the arms just from hearing a fork clank to the floor. How can you heal your adrenals when you can't sleep???? It's crazy. Deep breathing can simulate the effects of sleep and walking daily helped me get through that time. I gave up on worrying about teaching her "bad sleep habits" by letting her nap in the stroller. It was better for me and better for her.

I would look into supplemental iodine. The adrenals, thyroid, and hormones are all connected. If one is off then most likely the others are off too.

Adrenal fatigue can be a symptom of an underlying problem. Do you have marital stress? Do you have any kind of chronic health condition like IBS or gut flora imbalance?

Controlling your blood sugar (eat like a diabetic) is VERY important. Vit B5, B6, C, zinc, selenium, and magnesium all help. I take lots of magnesium (Natural Calm or epsom salt baths are GREAT).

If you are open to energy healing there are ways to rebalance the adrenals that way.
