duration of Zyrtec's side effects

I've developed chronic hives and angioedema post partum . . . the only thing that has kept them under control is Zyrtec. A 5mg children's dose seems to keep them under control. However, I've developed dry eyes and mouth. The dryness came about suddenly one night and just stuck around. It was then that I switched to a 5 mg dose. It's extremely bothersome and at times makes swallowing difficult. I tried getting off Zyrtec for a day and a half and while the hives came back, the dry mouth and eyes continued. Could this still be a lingering Zyrtec side effect or something more serious. (Of course, I looked on the internet and am very scared of the possibilities). How long do Zyrtec's side effects last for?

I've never experienced those side effects from Zyrtec. They shouldn't last long though, I wonder if the dry eyes are from something else? My friend gets drowsy the first few days she takes it, then is okay. I hope you feel better, allergies are the worst!
