nighttime CDing for newborn...

Do you do anything different at night with a newborn or do you just do what you do during the day since you are up all the time anyway? We are using prefolds or fitteds with a diaper cover (like Thirsties or Bummis) but I am wondering if I should try something different t night to keep her dryer, longer?

Until she stopped pooping at night, I just used our regular daytime prefold and Thirsties cover combo, since I was changing them with almost as much regularity as during the day. Once that was over (around 2 months, I think?), I moved on to pockets or hemp fitted + doubler and fleece cover. We don't change until the morning.

You could think about adding a layer of fleece between her and the diaper if you want to help DC feel dry. I just use something cheap from the fabric store; my fleece tends to start repelling pretty quickly, so watch out for that. Otherwise same at night while they're getting changed often and add an extra layer when they don't get changed till morning.

I did the same at night as daytime until they stopped pooping overnight. For DD that was within a few weeks - yay! For DS it was in a few months.

In genreal I didn't worry about having specific "night time" diapers until my babies started stopped waking frequently to nurse at night. Although with my third baby who HATED to have his diaper changed at night I did start using a fleece lined pocket diaper to keep him dryer. Otherwise he would get a bit rashy, and the screaming that ensued with a diaper change every two hours through the night was not worth it to us!
So, I say if what you have is working for you right now, stick with it. If you want to try something to keep her dryer, it's pretty inexpensive to get some fleece liners to use with the fitteds and prefolds you already have.
