My child was bitten by a cat and tetaus

Ok, so I always end up coming back to this forum with a fear of tetanus. That is really the only "vaccine preventable" disease that scares me despite having educated myself well on this subject. My son is completely vaccine free.

We went to the farm today where we get milk. My son was bit on the leg. The bite was mostly superficial but there was a very tiny puncture wound from one tooth. It wouldn't bleed though a tiny amount of blood surfaced, but does look bruised and there is a very tiny whole. It wasn't that serious but there wasn't a good way to tend to the wound on the farm. The farmer had some expired hydrogen peroxide which I used. then I came home and gave my son a soak in the bath with tea tree oil and then used hydrogen peroxide and extra vitamin C. I will repeat this process again this evening.

Do I need to worry? If not, I am still extraordinarily worried and upset by this! This is the one thing that always scares me!

I have been biten by at least 100 cats in my life and never have had tetanus. Unless the wound is very deep or has dirt/debris in it (like from a big splinter-that's the most common transmitter of tetanus last I saw), then it's no big deal.

I agree. I would be more concerned with infection than tetanus.
