DS is 6 weeks old. We had a growth spurt at around 10 days and then again at about 3 weeks. Both were marked by pretty much constant nursing - he'd cry every time take off the breast. I remember the one at 3 weeks lasted 2 days and we nursed from 11 a.m. to dinner time straight through both days.
However this time its different. He is definitely giving hunger cues constantly... pretty much always opening his mouth and sticking his tongue out, putting his hand in his mouth, etc. And he'll nurse away every time I put him on the breast, and for quite some time (he's a leisurly diner anyway). But there's less crying this time, and there are moments where I can stop for a minute, put him down & get myself something to eat, etc.
Am I just better at reading his cues now that he's older, and he is better at understanding that mumma is going to take care of him and therefore less fussing? Or is this not the growth spurt?
If it helps, he usually sleeps 4 - 5 hours when first put down at night and then stints of 2 hours or so for the rest of the night... last night he was up much more frequently (we co sleep so I don't know exactly how many times he nursed).
