Postpartum Weight Loss- September! - Page 3

still holding at 147. We went to our church labor day potluck picnic today and I strategically picked a table as far from the food as I could. I figured that the extra walking to get to it would help balance out the available choices

pacificbliss, regarding your TMI I also go a few days in a row then skip a few days. It probably isn't healthy at all but it has always been like that for me as far back as I can remember. I heard once that we are supposed to have a movement after each meal but I don't know how true that is. I'd like to just reach the point of having one every day without skipping! and Amanda, I have DEFINITELY weighed before and after to appease my twisted curiosity.

Last week for my DS's birthday party/ DD dedication party I had made a cake. After the kids ate their fill my sister in laws and I found ourselves finishing the cake portion that our respective children had left behind and I decided that next time I'm going to make a smaller cake and just give each of the kids a big dollop of icing since that is the only part they eat anyway. It will be less wasteful and/or waistful.

I start watching my SIL's DS & DD (both 3)again this week, and I'm hoping it will keep my weight loss from slowing down since I'll be even busier. It seems like a lot of us slow down with the weight loss around 2 months postpartum and that is just were I am at. I'd love to be back at my prepregnancy weight by 41 weeks postpartum, since it took me that long to put it on. Maybe having three toddlers to herd all day will get me slim and energetic again. Either that or tired and round from all the stress eating

Just checking in. Welcome Sosurreal, and to anyone else I may have missed.

Still at 113.5. I'm becoming less satisfied with this weight. I may have to knock out the chocolate again Everything remains pretty much the same. Walking is going well, although the forecast for this week is cloudy and rainy, straight through. Welcome, Fall! Right on time. I've been making big batches of healthy food. It may not all be low fat (I can't believe how quickly we plowed through a litre of olive oil), but it's mostly whole food, good fat kind of stuff.

Amanda, Just about the same! I'm 23. Hey, since our babies are the exact same age... are you doing solids yet? How do you intend to do your points/calories as your babe nurses less and less? I have no idea how to go about it. Also can you update me to 145.0 I have had a couple weigh ins at 143 and 144, but don't want to count those yet.
Truth is - I'm eating pretty terribly still. Ugh. I think its out of boredum. (WOW dd is trying to do a plank on the carpet right now!!) anyways, gotta run!

Idk if i missed it somewhere, but how tall are you? I dont think ive EVER been 113lbs! But yes, I can definitely understand the frustration not being where you want to be. You have done great so far, remember slow and steady wins the race!

Well we aren't doing solids yet. I will probably start him in the next week or so. I'm thinking only once a day though, and in addition to nursing, so not really replacing a feeding. I usually just gradually introduce it. Weight watchers says 2 additional points for every nursing session up to 12 points, so I will just do it that way. I will probably lower my calories from 1800 to 1600 or so. Nothing too drastic. I am expecting a drop in rate of weight loss now that I have taken so much off anyway.

.
Hey Amanda,
I'm short...I always claim to be five feet, but truthfully I'm 4'11...and 3/4! 113.5 is a bit on the chubby side for my height & body type. I was 90 pounds pre-pregnancy, but 100 is a happy healthy weight for me.

well the labor day weekend damage is done (and i mean damage- dh baked cookies for a party we were supposed to go to, i ended up tallying up the calorie count of the ingredients- it came out to about 5,500, ended up making 24 cookies out of it, so 230 calories per cookie! yes, they tasted amazing- and yes, i ended up eating like 4... and a half. yikes!). the results- 147.9lbs this morning. oh well, not too bad- especially since i knew that my 146.8 from sunday was a fluke from fasting all day. today i weigh the same as i did on saturday. lets just hope the damage isn't going to catch up to me and i can get back on track with no problem. for dinner tonight i am thinking of some sort of balsamic glazed salmon with honey lemon brown rice and maybe roasted asparagus. mmm. i wish it was dinner time now. my yoplait light apple turnover yogurt just isn't doing the trick this morning.

I visited another meeting location closer to my home this morning. I was hoping to meet some other SAHMs but it was mostly older women; however, everyone was super nice and the leader was really enthusiastic and the vibe of the group was more involved than the one I was at on Thursday. I will probably continue at this location since it is much closer to my home. I had my second official weigh in today, (I have been tracking points for about a month now and have lost about 7 pounds since that point), and I lost 3.2 pounds since last Thursday!

I know that the scale doesn't tell the whole story but do any other nursing moms have to make super sure they nurse their babies super well before weigh in? It can make a difference of nearly a pound for me!

Fruitful, congrats on the loss!

Oh yeah. There's definitely such a thing as milk weight.

112.5 this morning! I've seen that weight a couple of times in the last week, but I only count the first thing in the morning weigh-in. Haven't changed the way of eating much, but I surely have been eating smaller portions these days. My body doesn't seem so desperate for food all the time, so I feel that I'm coming back to "normal" in that sense. Also, I've been very good at cooking large quantities of healthy food for us to eat, I think that helps. Today, I'm trying my hand at jam. I've never made it before, so hopefully it goes well. We're moving in 5 weeks, so I'm trying to empty out the freezer.

Mmmmm...homemade jam I wish you the best to keep on track with moving and settling in your new home. I know the sheer business of all of that can cause a lot of stress but it sounds like you have a plan!

What sorts of foods do you cook ahead in batches for quick meals for your family and yourself?

Hi Fruitful,
So far the only successful part of the plan has been cleaning out the freezer, lol! The LO is frightened of the noise the packing tape makes, so I'm averaging about 1 box/day. At this rate, we should be ready to go in about...8 or 9 months?

As far as large batch meals: lately I've made stuffed peppers, black bean burgers, shepherds pie, spaghetti sauce (made from fresh tomatoes with chicken for meat), roasted vegetables with tofu (surprisingly not bad the next day), succotash, and various soups. I try to keep a supply of homemade soup stock on hand as well, veggie or chicken or whatever I've got going. Today I've got the last of the kidney beans and pinto beans cooking, and I figure I'll make a soup out of them. I also used the rest of the apples languishing in the fridge in some rather unsuccessful (but moderately edible) low fat muffins. I forgot the oatmeal; they might have been better had I used ALL of the ingredients! The jam turned out well. A little on the sweet side, but it gelled properly, yay! I don't fuss about how much calories anything is or points or anything else. I've just been making sure we're eating quality, whole foods. Since I'm home with baby, that is a bit easier.

112.5 again this morning. One more morning & it will be official

So I weighed myself the other day and I was 152 pounds, which means I lost 3 lbs in one week. BTW I do not count the fractions of a pound, I round up if it's over .5 or down if it's under .5 is my system. I also think I need to get more regular about when I weight myself, for example only in the morning before eating or only in the evening after dinner, etc. Because honestly I don't think it's possible to just have lost those 3 lbs in 8 days from not eating any more sugar and no carbs at night (my current "diet"). I'll bet at least one of those pounds was water/time of day, etc. But still:

112 this morning, so I think it's safe to say the 112.5 is official

145 this morning! It's the first time I've seen that number so it isn't an official change yet, but I'm so excited! I have lost almost 40 lbs in the 10 weeks since DD was born! That's works out to a little more than 2 lbs a week so far because I lost almost 20 lbs in labor alone. Having my niece and nephew for 40 hours a week is DEFINITELY going to be working in my favor, at least regarding weight loss! Those two don't EVER stop (but what 3 yo's do?) So we have been spending a lot of time outside, which means several hours a day that I am walking around the yard to make sure I'm keeping on eye on the three of them since if I stayed in one place the could hide in corners outside my vision. I'm loving the cool fallish weather we've begun having but it makes me nervous because I won't be able to take them out as often or as long as it starts to really change into cold and rainy. Any ideas for energy burning activities for two 3 yos and a 2 yo? I'm afraid that when the nice weather runs out we will really be going stir crazy inside. Anyway, getting distracted, sorry. 145! And hopefully it wasn't a fluke and I see it again tomorrow, then it will be official.

Annie Mac- I hate it when I leave ingredients out! At least they were kind of edible, having to throw it out after making it really irritates me. The worst is when you were making something to either use up a specific ingredient, or bought something specially for a recipe and then you forget to use it. Argh! And I don't count calories either, I just make sure that before dinner I eat a big salad so that there isn't enough room in me to overeat the main course just because "it tastes soo good". Dinner is the meal I am most likely to overindulge, darn good cooking skills

Congratulations! I've been wondering the same thing as it has begun to get cooler and cloudier and wetter outside. Yesterday I didn't even go out once. Not even to take the dog out. I did pack up a bunch of boxes though. That's exercise, right?

Today, I think some veggie stock is in order. Hopefully I have everything I need for it. Certainly a walk to the store would be good for me.

Well, this was my first week back at work and it was CRAZY. I totally slacked on workouts and, since i was out seeing clients there were lots of restaurant meals. Still, I didn't gain so i am calling it a victory. Pumping is going well. I love that i can eat veggies, drink water and make cream.

Congratulations on the weight loss ladies! Looks like everyone went down this week!

Can I join in? Current wt 137lbs. Goal weight 115lbs. Total loss 30lbs. We're planning the big trip to Paris next year to introduce DD and DS to all the relatives and I want to be in shape. I'm hoping it's a sufficient motivator.

It's funny. I've been losing weight steadily since DD was born without doing much except walking, nursing and generally eating healthfully - but no dieting or hard work. I've stalled at 137lbs, which is exactly what happened after DS was born. I did WW last time, but I'm just not up for that right now. I've had to go vegan with DD's nursing/bowel issues, so I'm hoping that with upping the exercise will be enough. We'll see!

I am using a trip to Hawaii as motivation. Paris sounds lovely.

Welcome oldmommers!

My scale played a mean trick on me this morning. I woke up, and when I looked in the mirror I thought, hey, I'm definitely looking thinner. Cool. Then I hopped on the scale. 110, it said. Woo! 110? I couldn't believe it. I really couldn't. 2 1/2 pounds overnight? So I hopped on again. 112.5. And again. 112.5. scale.

Got my veggie stock made yesterday. I found a recipe for spicy lentil soup that looks good. Good cool weather food, plus I'll use up the rest of the lentils, and then can pack the lentil jar.
