desperate!

Help! I'm the nursing mom of two, 27 months and 6 months. My older daughter is driving me crazy. Before the new baby was born, I weaned her to nursing just three times a day, morning, naptime and bedtime. She was fine with this until about a month or two ago. Now all day long she asks to nurse. In fact, I think she wants to nurse more than her 6 month old sister. I'm fine with her nursing a few times a day, but not all day long, which seems to be what she wants. Any suggestions?

My husband thinks we need to just totally wean her since having some time is just a tease, since she doesn't seem to get that she can only have it sometimes.

The biggest problem (I think) is that my boobs are easily accessible due to the 6 month old.

I just have no idea what to do anymore.

I tandemed with my first two and ran into similar issues. For us, keeping the older one busy was key...playing outside a lot, lots of outings (children's museum, grocery store, park, etc.), spending time building train layouts, etc. Other things that helped were me staying off our normal nursing spot if possible, nursing baby in sling so less visible, and reminding him that he just had muh at xxx time, he can have more at yyy time. He eventually got the idea and settled back into the old routine.

WTG for tandemong this long, and good luck!

Don't have any tandem experience but I think it's a fine idea to set limits on older nursing children. Some people have given out nursing "cards" - so many per day. I just limited nursing to particular times - in the morning and before naps. I was always willing to snuggle and sometimes she'd slip her hand down my shirt and hold my breast and I always let her know when we could nurse again. At some point, I was just not willing to be an open bar 24 hours a day. I mommy-led weaned her at 4.5 years of age.
