Nursery School Strategy

Thread Starter
We have been selectively vaccinating our 22 month old son and would like for him to attend our neighborhood nursery school. The school happens to be at a church. We have received the registration packet, including the vaccination form, and have not returned it yet. Do you have any advice for how to start a conversation with the director regarding vaccinations? Can they refuse to take him? Thank you for any insights you can lend! (We live in Michigan.)

Take out the vax form and replace it with a "written statement" see below:

"Michigan

Current Statutes & Laws: http://www.nvic.org/Vaccine-Laws/sta.../michigan.aspx
Medical, Religious & Philosophical

A child is exempt if a parent of the child presents a written statement to the administrator of the child's school that the child should not be immunized because of religious convictions or other objection to immunization. "

My pediatrician recommended just mailing in the form from the pediatrician's office as is, not making any mention of it, and only do anything if the school contacted me to complain. She said that only a few times has she ever had a situation where the school complained.

So that's what we've done with two different schools now, and neither of them made a peep. Like you, we're selectively and delayed vaxing.
