yellowy-green poop, not very runny...is this ok?

my son is 2 weeks old. he poops like a machine ( 4-6 times daily) but his poop doesnt seem like normal breastfed poop to me. its mustardy yellow but mixed with some green, and its not very runny. its not a complete solid, but when they say its supose to be seedy...well his is like all seeds, so its thick. is that ok? he has been super gassy the last few days and has been spitting up more. im starting to wonder if he has a dairy allergy. my older son had one but he was much worse and his poop was always browny yellow and super liquidy and mucusy.

so is the thick poop normal ? if not would this be an indication of a dairy allergy? or what else could it be? although he is definitely not dehydrated, could i not be drinking enough and thats what is causing it to be thicker? thanks for any advice

my kid had thick poop, but not related to dairy allergy - this was when i was dairy-free. when i had dairy in my diet, it was greenish-brown, very mucousy, and runny.

I think it sounds perfectly healthy. There is a wide variation on what's normal. Yellow is fine, but so is yellowy-green and yellowy-orange, and even the occasional brown one. Runny is fine, but so is thick like peanut butter. And 4-6 times a day is GREAT, and means baby is getting plenty of milk. I don't think what you're describing sounds like allergy to me at all-- my DS was milk-protein intolerant, and his poop was greenish-black and had blood and mucus in it. I think it sounds like you're doing fine!

is a very good discussion of this.

I agree with Llyra. Provided it's not thin, neon green or foamy (signs of too little fat, meaning not enough time on one side, oversupply, or something else), green is not bad in and of itself.
