Ben's never been 5th percentile in ANYTHING, he's another one of these giant breastfed babies (so sad for your aunt, Lauren31, I think sometimes they don't teach nurses anything at all...), so I asked if he was sure that was the right chart. The doctor showed me the birth date and everything, but eventually figured out that he had the right chart and the wrong graph.
Oops, guess that's how medical mistakes happen!
Durrrr.... seriously, couldn't he look at Ben and know that was wrong?
Have to say I LOVE our new family doctor. DD went to a pediatrician, and every little thing was scrutinized, and potential problems identified.. I felt like a failure after every visit. This guy is so much more grounded.
"Well, he looks happy. He's obviously eating well (DS is 70th for weight and 90th for length. Any questions? Okay, quick check over then. Yep, looks good..."
Didn't even say "have you started solids" or "is he sleeping through the night?" He knows this is our second baby, that I'm confident in how it's going, and doesn't bother second-guessing. Love him.
We're doing BLW properly now - I've given up on the "single food every three days" thing and just offering what we're eating. Not much is going in yet, but he's having a great time. I did offer him a Farley's biscuit today (baby cereal in a biscuit form ... closest to baby food as we get!) and he adored it. He ate almost all of it - easy because it pretty much melts in his mouth. He also really likes carrot, and cucumber, and orange pepper. Not so keen on the fruits yet.
