Do you do anything different?

During AF? I'm starting soon and I'm really gassy, a bit bloated, water rentention - the whole works. My periods have been awful since I've gotten them back after having my second child. I'm running again and am wondering if I should stick with the running right now or do something else that is cardio related.

Do you tone it down a bit when you're on AF?

Depends on how yucky I feel. If the cramps aren't too bad some light cardio helps me feel better. But if they are the "oh gosh, don't wanna move" type then I take a guilt-free day off.

If they are that bad, perhaps explore some dietary changes? Once I cut out most of the processed stuff I was eating my PMS has gotten SO much better. Worth a shot.

Yeah, last night, I ran intervals for 25 minutes and felt okay. I lifted some weights and felt fine. I worked out for about 45 minutes. Today, I feel really crappy, but it's still early. I may just do cardio tonight and skip the weights - like do the ellipitical or just walk on the treadmill at a fast pace.
I don't eat a lot of processed stuff to begin with. It's not so much the cramps as it is the headaches and just the overall flow, if you will.

I have a rough period (very heavy flow) about every three months and I downplay my workouts on those few days, but I make up for it by amping up milage either before or after...that's really just to make me feel better mentally.

A run-of-the-mill period is one thing, but a rough one really tears down your body and forcing a heavy work out could make it worse. Nothing scientific, just my opinion.

I've heard that your body burns an average of 300 extra calories during a period so I try to rationalize with that tidbit on the days I just can't get moving.
Don't quote me on that though.
