I have an interview for the Master Gardener Program at the end of the month. Yay! I'm so excited! My new boss thinks it great because really it will benefit my new position as garden girl. Just had to share.

Way to go!! You'll be that much more sought after for advice here!

Good luck, Cathy! I just started the program about 3 weeks ago - the interview & test were a little daunting, but when they heard that I could create & maintain website content, their little old eyes lit up!

Heh. Funny. Wow. Does your class start in January too?

I did this. Loved it. Get a cool name tag and I get to volunteer at cool places around my city.

No, mine is going on now, until my birthday in December. They run it only every 2 years here, so I really wanted to get in this time around, otherwise it's a long wait!

Ok, wow. That's good. How do you like it so far?

I've had four classes so far, for my MG program here in Fort Bend County, Texas. We just covered vegetables. Upcoming is Fruit Trees, Soil, Turf, Trees, Herbs, and some more I can't remember. I have a workshop on composting next week, too. I am loving it so far, and meeting some awesome people! Good Luck with your program! I am sure you'll get in. We didn't have an interview or test for our program. But we do have to pass a test and complete 60 volunteer hours before we can graduate.

I like it too. I'm finding that 200 level plant biology lab/double course I took in college helpful! Most of all, I'm am now not so terrified of those bags of fertilizers and their mysterious numbers! I realize that compost alone cannot do it. I'm sure I'll have a bunch more revelations along the way.

So are you saying it won't last all year then? Just wondering because I would like to TTC our next in February and was planning to be preggo throughout the program. My dh uses the same soap and I become pregnant so I don't think it will take long, but wanted to know if it will be over before the baby comes hypothetically. I'm all excited now to learn new stuff.

Sorry, I think I am a little confused by your post? :

The class runs from mid-Sept to mid-Dec. Once a week. We're only allowed to miss one class, then a test & a presentation. YOu have a whole year to do the volunteering, some of which can be done during the class.

Sorry, our classes don't start until January, but I didn't know how long they went for. I'm just trying to plan ahead. I guess I'll know for sure when i go in for the interview.

So, we have our projects that we will present in the Fall.  Oct. 5 is presentation day.  I'm due in Sept., either I won't be there, or there will be lots of baby passing while my group presents.  They said its pretty casual, so it just might work out.  thumb.gif  I love my fellow Master Gardener's.

How cool! Of course, this thread makes me want to start asking you a slew of questions. I keep meaning to go the library to get something about fruit trees to deal with my backyard pear...I have NO idea what to do with it! orngbiggrin.gif
