Just out of curiosity, do women have more frequent BH contractions in subsequent pregnancies, or are they just more noticeable?

Yeah, I think it's both. I definitely notice them more because I know what they are (similarly, in my first pregnancy I noticed them after I realized what they were!). But they're also more common and can start earlier in subsequent pregnancies.
Staying hydrated really is important, too! I had some downright labor-like BH when I got dehydrated at only 23 weeks.

It's a little of both.
I had my 25-week appointment this week, and I mentioned to my mw that I have been having a lot of BH lately- it seems like I have a very sensitive uterus. Moving the wrong way, laying on my back, getting an overly-full bladder- all set me off. She said what previous posters have- that it is common to have more BH in subsequent pregnancies. She mentioned something about the uterus having stretched before, but I don't remember specifically how that contributed.

Mine also said the uterus had stretched before -- if you think about it, she said, it has already gotten really large. During the first pregnancy, it was always the largest it had ever been, so the strength it has to contract might be less. Now that it has stretched before, it has more strength to contract. Or, something like that! But yes, she said in subsequent pregnancies, and say in a fourth pregnancy, B-H can be downright painful!!
