One question

OK, I'm really curious after reading some of the posts, and the comments regarding sexual pleasure being sacrificed with male circ. How would anyone know that, unless someone experienced sex both before and after circumcision? It's a personal thing and based on personal perception, is it not?

Circ. hasn't made my husband a eunuch, that's for sure. He likes sex plenty. So I totally don't understand this idea that pleasure is sacrificed.

Well seeing that circ removes the most sensitive part of a mans penis it only makes sense that it lessens pleasure. The penis does not function how it was meant to with out the foreskin.

Here are some links that explain the function of foreskin.

I think that many females are adversely affected in a sexual way from male circumcision. Some surveys have shown that women overwhelmingly prefer sex with intact men. Some of the problems I have with sex seem to be similar to the problems male circ. causes. My dh, we both believe, had too much foreskin removed during circ. It has caused some pain for him during and after sex.

P.S. I believe that ANY amount of foreskin removed is too much, but the amount taken from him has led to some problems!

I believe that the foreskin is similar to the clitoris in the amt. of nerve-rich endings found there. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.....

the foreskin also provides a natural gliding mechanism so if a woman's vagina is "dry", for whatever reason, lube isn't needed.

The head of a circumcised penis is also totally dry and scarred.... I believe it is actually supposed to be moist and soft, like a mucous membrane.... it's kind of like the difference between an eyeball that has an eyelid and an eyeball that doesn't 'cept an eyeball without an eyelid to lubricate and protect it would go blind, I am assuming, while a penis without a foreskin can still have an erection (which, for some circ.'d men, ceases or slows down drastically after middle age and Viagra must be used) and perform sexual functions.

It is my understanding that inutero the same nerve endings either become part of the foreskin if babe is male or clitoris if babe is female. So actually they are the same nerve endings.

I've heard the same thing Sheacoby...

I've also heard the argument that it's totally different because women cannot have sexual pleasure without their clitoris. Totally false. There are two different types of orgasm: clitoral and penetration. Women who do not have clitorises can have penetration orgasms.

I have read quite a bit about that and from my readings I have found that circed women do still have pleasure and orgasm, even the women who had the clitoris removed. Of course is that a good reason to circ, h#ll no.

Maggie:

What you are saying would be correct if all men were circumcised at birth but they are not. There are men circumcised as adults and the majority of them report significantly reduced sexual function and there are those who have restored their foreskins and report significantly increased sexual sensitivity. The reports from both sides of the fence confirm that there is significant sexual damage from circumcision.

Certainly, your husband enjoys sex. The whole original intent of circumcision was to reduce the sexual pleasure the maximum amount without rendering the man non-reproductive. There is a compelling case to be made that it is successful in that respect, especially in older men. As a man ages, his production of testosterone is reduced lessening his sex drive. At this point, the pleasure aspect is responsible for keeping him sexually active. It may not prove anything but all of the cultures that circumcise their men are also the ones that use the most Viagra and counterfeit the most Viagra. The United States consumes more than half of the world's supply of Viagra and Indonesia (Muslim) has the highest per capita consumption of Viagra type products. Israel is the #1 counterfieter of Viagra. Circumstantial evidence? Perhaps.
