healthy snacks and salad ideas needed

I'm a new mom and I'm trying to make an effort to lose my pregnancy weight (I gained a LOT, and not just in the belly!). I know when BFing it's not wise to cut calories, but I want to start eating healthier. I need ideas for things to snack on during the day at home. I was thinking salads (pasta, bean, etc.) might be good to make in advance and just have around to dig into. I have one recipe I got from the Peggy's Kitchen email for a kidney bean salad which I love, but I'm getting a little sick of it.

These are some things I already snack on:

hummus with carrot sticks
apple with peanut butter
endive leaves with cottage cheese
trail mix
dried fruit

I would be grateful if you'd share with me some healthy things you like to snack on, or salad recipes I can make in the evening and have around for the following few days. TIA!

What about a bowl of berries? Or what I have been doing is eating cantaloupe cut up into chunks. Then I munch on that.

If you are doing Pasta Salads, I would look at Whole Wheat Pasta instead of white pasta.

What about Quinoa? You can make that into some excellent salads.

We are eating a lot of salads for dinner. I use baby greens or spinach or any dark leaf green. I add green olives, red onion, cut up grape tomatoes. I top with a protein like grilled chicken or other lean protein.

Or you could do a salad with adding black beans, chopped tomatoes, corn, grilled chicken over salad greens.

OK, I know I'm hungry for lunch, but that sounds DELICIOUS!

avocados on a salad are yummy and healthy and high in calories...if you eat dairy, cheese is yummy too

A big container full of mixed greens, then add whatever mixed veggies you like ( I like brocolli, cauliflower, tomatoes, cucumber, olives, carrots, onions...just whatever you like!)

Smoothies that you can make ahead and leave in the fridge during the day...there are TONS of green, blue and red smoothie recipes on the internet. I was looking here today and am thinking about trying some...

My dad used to make a GREAT salad we kept in the fridge for a couple of days. It had lettuce, tomato, carrots, cuke, celery, cheese, black and green olives and tuna. We'd put Italian dressing on it, but you could dress it with whatever you like. It was sooooo good!

I like to keep frozen berries on hand, fresh berries, fresh cut up fruit, cheese, sometimes cold chicken ( if it's there in the fridge, definately okay to snack on) or a piece of good whole wheat toast.

Oh, honeybaked lentils are good later cold or rewarmed.

Good luck!
