Kefir?

Thread Starter
I just started drinking this and I really like it. Okay, I have to add Agave or Honey to it. But just a little.

Anyhow, I get the lowfat plain version from Trader Joes. I understand you can make this at home. Is that right?

Kefir is super duper easy to make but you have to have some starter grains. I took some grains from a friend's stash but I think you can buy them, as well. All you do is add milk to the grains & let them sit on the counter until the desired fermentation/tanginess is reached. (How's that for a scientific explanation? ).

Kefir is super easy to make. You simply add the kefir "grains" (there's no actual grain like wheat, it's just a term due to how they look) to milk, let them sit for 18-48 hours and you have kefir. Not only are kefir grains reusable indefinitely (just plop them in a fresh supply of milk) but they also produce kefir with more probiotic strains than what you find in the store.
