I am just so angry right now. Our Y is disorganized, but like in many medium-sized places, there's not competition for them. They have for a few years had a Thursday afternoon PE class. I signed my kids up for it. I noticed they had a Tuesday option, too.
We just showed up. We didn't have a spot. Though it's not clear on their registration, they were full ("which is why we opened up Tuesdays, but no one signed up"
), so they rolled us over to October. So here are my kids, in their swimsuits, waiting to find out which group they're with, and I have to drag them back to the waiting room. We weren't the only ones, but still. DD was crying and saying that she wanted to play. DS was angry. It was awful! And I'm just pissed about the whole thing! While we were there it was chaotic and disorganized in general, so I'm not sure DS would like it.
I'm torn on October. I think the kids would enjoy it, but at the same time, obviously there aren't enough slots for the same kids to do it every month. We do have the option of paying for the whole year upfront, but I don't want to do that until we've been a couple of times. (They once cancelled a gymnastics class DD was signed up for, and we *never* got the refund from it, despite calling, filling out the request for refund, etc.)
The local Christian hs group has their co-op on Tuesdays, which is why there weren't any sign-ups. So one of the moms asked in the parent orientation part who would be available for Tuesdays. Two people besides us raised their hands, and I don't think they'd have it for just 3 families. Anyway, I have time to decide, but the kids are disappointed, and so am I.
