Breaking the coffee/caffein addiction...I don't know if I can do this...

I have tried to cut coffee and tea out so many, many times without success. I would say I am addicted. My health is failing and it is evident that my adrenals are fatiguing. I need some support. Are there ways to get the coffee out of the system fast. I can't afford 2 weeks of misery (who can?) Anyone have good ideas or want to join me?

I have yet to stay off coffee once I have gotten off. However, there is no reason to be miserable coming off coffee. I never felt bad if I tapered off. For instance, right now I drink two cups a day. So immediately I would just drink one cup a day for 5 days. Then I would drink less than a cup for a few days then half a cup for a few days and then switch to green tea as needed to keep from getting withdrawal and then stop. I never felt withdrawal symptoms from that method. However stopping cold turkey is pure hell!!!

I found Dandy Blend to be helpful too and it is healthy as well as similar to coffee. Just goggle it if you are interested and you can find out about it.

I successfully and painlessly got off caffeine about 6 months ago - I'm back on it and want off again, and will use the same method.

I gradually weaned myself off it by subbing in decaf. We grind our beans at home, so I bought a bag of decaf bean, and started with just a tablespoon of decaf to 10 tablespoons of so of caff beans, did that for three days, then went up to 2 tbsp of decaf to 9 caff...and so on. Really gradual, but totally painless. The key for me was getting really good quality decaf beans - I'm a Starbucks fan, so that's what I got, and their decaf is really good.

The reason I ended up back on caffeine is that I ran out of the decaf and neglected to buy any for several days....the coffee habit was still there so I made caff those days, and was hooked right back on.

This time around I'm hoping to find a cheaper brand of decaf that tastes good enough for me to stick with it.

I have to agree with these strategies. Gradual weaning by using a good quality decaf.

If you are doing several cups a day, in addition to the above, I would cut out the latest one completely (so, your evening cup goes entirely). After a week, cut out the next latest one (the one you drink in the late afternoon), and so on.
The quality of your sleep should improve.

Think You could switch from coffee to grain coffee..which is naturally caffeine free.

Grain coffee isn’t real coffee, but it’s a ground mixture of things like grains, nuts, dried fruit, and natural flavors that you can put into a regular drip coffee maker and make something that looks and tastes similar to coffee.

But yes...grain coffees can be a bit bitter to taste....so you will have to try many flavours before you get the 1 u like

I just switched to Green tea and I have a cup off coffee here and there still. I dont think I had any withdrawal symptoms. When I wsa preggo I quit cold turkey but any symptoms were masked by my morning sickness.

EFT works wonders. I got off a heavy caffeine addiction with one EFT session and had no withdrawal headaches or cravings (which I had always had previously when I tried). Look for an EFT practitioner in your area, or look on YouTube -- there are a lot of EFT vidoes on YouTube. Try looking up EFT Ending Addictions or Ending Cravings or something like that. It really works!
