Coconut milk from green coconuts?

I'm trying to find a BPA-free alternative to coconut milk and came across these ones:

Dr Antonio Martins’ Coco Milk for cooking

Dr. Antonio Martins Coco Milk for drinking

Their website actually states:

Quote:
coconut milk from old, brown coconuts - good; from young, fresh, green ones – much better
I really have no idea if this is valid or not, but I have tried the second one in a smoothie and it was delicious! So I'm wondering if it's worth getting the first one now that cold weather is coming and will be preparing my hot oatmeal for breakfast.

TIA!

I'm curious too. I've been thinking about getting some green ones to harvest for coconut water but I'd feel much better about it if we could benefit from using them for coconut milk to!

That green coconut milk looks pretty interesting! If I see it around here I'd love to give it a try. I usually like a fuller fat coconut milk since I use it in recipes and not for drinking, so I'm not sure if it would be what I am personally looking for, but it does look good.

I've found that the easiest, most economical way to make BPA-free coconut milk is to just do it yourself. I have a coconut shredder (very neat tool) but the other day I found something even easier. Several of our local Asian groceries carry shredded frozen coconut. I bought bunch and keep them in the freezer. When I need coconut milk I thaw one, blend it up with hot water, soak it for awhile, then strain it in a nut-milk bag. Presto: fresh coconut milk!

Native Forest coconut milk (in a can) does not use BPA. YAY!!!

Yup, I buy native forest coconut milk for the same reason - no BPA!!

But Native Forest does use Gar Gum which isn't GAPS diet complaint so I'd love to make my own but it'd be nice to make it as nutrient dense as possible.
