baby refuses leftovers- aspergillus allergy?

I'm trying to follow my baby's lead (he's 12 months old) on what he likes, but his refusal to eat foods the next day is making for lots of work. He's underweight, so we are constantly worrying about what he eats. He'll eat something for a few months and love it, then completely refuse it (avocados). He loves potatoes, so we make them in bacon grease for him and he adores them. The next day he won't touch them, same for everything else we try to reheat (peas, beans great the first day, not the next). He had multiple food intolerances in the beginning but most of those seem to be gone. We are gluten and mostly grain free.

Anyone had a similar problem? I'm wondering if he can sense aspergillus (isn't that the mold that grows in leftovers almost immediately?) and refuses leftovers for that reason.

does he see you reheating them?
maybe it's a texture thing. And some people just don't like leftovers. I think chili with rice is the only leftover that DS will eat, and he's 10yo. He should be past that pickiness by now, but isn't. He won't eat reheated versions of his favorites either.

I dispise leftovers and I'm 27. I only like a couple things reheated (soups and chili and the veggies from a pot roast, but not the meat.)

Picky doesn't equal allergy.

No fans of leftovers in my house. There are very few things that I will eat reheated and I am in my late 30s.

What the OP describes is fairly typical of most children I know. My own kids will love a particular food for awhile and want it often and then grow tired of it and will refuse to eat it again for a few months.

Yes, this.

It sounds like a normal picky toddler to me. Almost every toddler goes through a picky stage.

When you say he "eats things for a couple months and then refuses it" what do you mean by that. He's 12 months old...hasn't he *only* been eating solids for a couple months anyhow?

My best guess is that he enjoys the taste and texture of fresh foods, but reheated foods don't taste or feel the same. Most adults don't want to eat reheated green beans either...it doesn't sound appetizing to me at all. So, maybe that's just it. Could you set aside some when you're cooking them, don't cook the portion you set aside, and then cook them the next day? Are they fresh green beans when you cook them, or are they canned/frozen? If they are canned or fresh, I would imagine that the mold you are suspecting is on the green beans the first day you eat them as well.

At least your kid will like something for months. With my DS he'll like something for a day or 2 and then stop liking it.
