This is a "Non Due Date Club" for all the Mamas waiting to adopt kiddos, whether newborn or older. We can share our stories, encourage each other while we wait and be patient (or not) for our little ones to arrive.

Feel free to join in if you are waiting for a foster kiddo, a relative or an adoption in any stage. We're not trying to be exclusive at all. Mamas who don't have any kids yet but who are waiting to adopt or foster a kiddo are also welcome. Also feel free to chime in if you have previously adopted and have stories or advice to share.

Please keep this thread supportive and gentle. We all have different journeys and different ways of "getting there".

Our September DDC is up!

I found that it was getting a little long and difficult to keep track of people, so I organized it. Let me know what you guys think. I can always put it back, but I really like it better this way.

Also, I noticed that there are quite a few people who haven't updated in a while. Let us know how you're doing, even if it's just more waiting.

Here's my update: still nothing. Well, I shouldn't say that. Our agency finally had a placement in August, although it obviously wasn't with us. Our profile was viewed once in July and once in August. So it's better than nothing, which is what was going on all spring/summer. Oh, and we just passed the year mark. It looks like we have at least another year to go.

We have our homestudy visit next Wednesday. I am overwhelmed with the things I want to have done before she comes. I'm so afraid she'll tell us to fix something and have to come back!

If that does happen it's not a big deal. We had to lock up some stuff in the garage and she came back a week later, no problems.

Still here, still waiting, still absolutely nothing. We have not been looked at, our profile has not been shown. Still a bit fat nothing with no end in sight. Not that I am bitter or anything

After doing a lot of thinking and talking with DH, we're leaning towards ttc before getting into fostering/adoption. Every time I tried to get the fostering thing going I seemed to hit a brick wall and another thing is that I see our home being in renovations for awhile longer. It's livable but I feel we wouldn't pass a homestudy for a while. So instead of waiting even longer to have a family, we're thinking of going this route first. Except now I feel a bit like a failure and that I'm giving up on my dream again. I just want a family!

hi all!

I can't even get into how crazy life has been for us the last few months, but it's a good crazy, even though we haven't been called to go get our babies!!! they are doing well, and we're looking pretty likely to go get them in october. once everything is all settled I'll be able to say more. just not certain about a few things, and can't put it out there online, so we're keeping quiet -- just things that we are 99% sure are ok, but might result in yet MORE delays, so we're just... quiet.

Super excited about everything coming up for us in the next few months!! can't believe we'll actually finally be able to go get our babies! who are now 1 and 3. so officially we're still waiting for a court date, but pretty confident that it will come in october. Ironically, after all this waiting, it's pretty well our turn, but now we have to wait because of circumstances on our end... unless circumstances turn out to be different in the next few days, then we'll tell our lawyer there to go ahead and get us the soonest court date, which will still be early october, most likely. so, to lessen the stress for all of us, we're holding off for a couple of weeks, but will report back as soon as we have a date! we have super limited internet time right now, so can't check in frequently, but want to send hugs to everyone still waiting, hitting road blocks, taking unexpected turns, or giving up altogether. This is such a hard road to walk!

oh dear, I don't even know what I was rambling on about in that last post, suffice it to say, we're officially waiting for a court date, and should know in the next couple of weeks, and we're also hoping to buy our first house, should know about that in the next couple of weeks too!

so much going on today!! In fact, so much of it I think I need a nap!

4 yr old ds moved in about 2 weeks ago. Don't know if I ever mentioned that I already have a 7 yr old dd that I adopted internationally as a baby. Everyone is doing great.

So, I guess I now fall under the waiting for finalization category, although that will take at least 6 mos and I'm tired of thinking of myself as waiting for something. Now that ds is here, I am trying to enjoy things as they are!

Homestudy visit was today, we passed. She said we will start being presented in October!

We're 1/2 done with our homestudy - 2 more visits to go! I need to get a locked box for our meds and a fire extinguisher for our fire inspection, and that's all for that aspect. We are getting so close!

we found a great, roomy, affordable locking cabinet at Ikea. We mounted it to the wall.

ok, thank you. I was kinda debating between a "tool box" kind of thing and a mounted cabinet. There is no Ikea anywhere close to me here, but maybe something similar. Any ideas?

I'm at 22 months waiting for a successful TPR. We had a TPR hearing June 2010, but the judge wasn't satisfied with the information given then and wants to have "all the i's dotted and all the t's crossed." Waiting......

We don't even have another court date, but I know we'll have another ACR in late December or early January and then a court date will follow soon after. Right now I'm in the waiting room.....

Well, I dropped the photo collages at the agency today and our worker came out to chat... Our file is on ts second review all reAdy And she thinks we'll be done and approved next week. EEEEK! She got the home study report written fast, we are actually ahead of schedule by about 3 weeks.
