The Friedman opening brief actually asserts that "the only other known precedent directly on point, albeit, non-binding, is an EEOC Determination Letter holding Veganism to be the functional equivalent of a religious belief," but the appendix containing the actual text of the Determination Letter isn't on-line. In extremis, it might be worth dropping a line to the attorney, Scott Myer, to see if he'd swing you a copy.

We do; my supervisor just gave us a heads up last week rather than waiting for the official announcement.

Since the official announcement came out today and no one has responded to my original email, I sent a second email to the director of HR with quotes from the EEOC's policy manual on religious discrimination which state that firmly held moral and ethical beliefs are considered religion and are protected under Title VII as such.

Again, at this point, all of my emails have been opened and none have been responded to.
