Why aren't there American DSQ prefold manufacturers?

Just out of curiosity, why are diaper service quality prefolds only from Pakistan, India, or China? Why couldn't they be manufactured in the US? I ask because here in Brazil, we import a lot of our cloth diapers from the US. If I knew why they don't manufacture them in the US, maybe I'd know why they don't manufacture them in South America either. Anybody know?

I assume it's the cost, just like so much else is manufactured in those countries instead of the US.
