We start HSing next Monday!

I have wanted to do this for years, and I finally can! I have a unenthusiastic 6th grader and a very enthusiastic pre-k. Any advice at all is appriciated!

We're unschoolers. Everything that I've read says that kids who have been to school need to "de-school." It may take your 6th grader awhile to get interested in learning again.

For the 6th grader I recommend making sure they have opportunities to be away from you lol. It's going to be a huge switch from being somewhat independent at school all day, to being with mom all the time yk? Are there other preteen/teen home schoolers in your area? We have a large group of them here who do things together all the time. Some time to de-school will probably be good. Some people let their kids go crazy with screen time during the de-school process. I wouldn't, but to each their own. Definitely a park day with home schoolers, or a class, or something that they can look forward to each week.

The preschooler just needs to play and do stuff with you (like cook, clean, etc). That age is easy. Lots of art, play dates, outdoor play, etc.

Good luck!
