How much Sodium Ascorbate to treat Whooping Cough in 21 month old??

The doctors' think my best friend's 21 month old DD has whooping cough. She's been coughing for 8 weeks now. I'm writing her an email to tell her about treating with sodium ascorbate but I can't find a link to anywhere that actually explains how much to give and how often. I just want a simple explaination and all I'm finding are links to other boards with tons of extra discussion on WC.

i think you can give as much until stools get watery. however, i believe there are actual per body weight instructions here on mothering. maybe if you search SA recommendations?

I have a couple of posts from this week where Tanya typed the dosages per body weight.

last time I posted the guidelines the mods removed it and told me it was because you can't post medical advice on here?? This baffled me since people give suggestions on here all the time. Anyway I will PM you the guidelines

Thanks! I eventually found a post with dosing amounts by weight.

My friend's DD is about 24lbs so it seems like the proper dosage would be 1/2 tsp to 3/4 tsp of SA total spread out over the day (1/4 tsp is 1.2 gm SA I think). I told her to start out giving a 1/4 tsp twice a day and if she tolerated that without loose stools to go ahead and give another 1/4 tsp. I hope she finds some SA (I've never seen it at the health food store so she'll probably have to order it) and uses it.

It's good to know the dosing amount now since my DS2 is about the same weight as her DD. I should order some SA to keep on hand.
