milk challenges for severely allergic child

My daughter was diagnosed as having severe food allergies to milk, egg, peanuts, cashews, almonds, and pistachios when she was eight months old. At two years old, she has now grown out of the peanut and almond allergies.

At her last appointment, her (UK-based) allergist recommend we start a series of food challenges with milk since her skin test results suggested the allergy may no longer be so severe.

Considering that her first exposure to cheese at seven months resulted in anaphylaxis, we are rather apprehensive about exposing her to milk.

Nevertheless, we are proceeding with the milk trials at home with the hope that we will find that her allergy is no longer so severe. I am blogging about this experience at http://entretemps-kjs.blogspot.com/2...l-day-one.html.

Has anyone else had a similar experience? How did it go? I would love to read your stories, comments, and suggestions on my blog or elsewhere.

I haven't read your link, but is she testing negative now for milk? I wouldn't do a trial of it with that history, ESPECIALLY at home, until I had a negative skin and blood test.

Why isn't the allergist doing the milk challenge in-office, or at the hospital?
