Has this happened to anyone?PLEASE HELP

I am frantically searching for ANYONE who has a similar birth story to mine, because I REALLY REALLY want a VBAC when i have my next child, but i keep getting more and more discouraged.
I'll start from the beginning. I was induced a week early for severe swelling, protein in my urine and slightly high blood pressure. I later found out i could have waited, but i didnt know, this was my first baby. Anyways, i went in and was giving Cervidil twice, which did NOTHING. Then they started the Pictocin. Within 30 minutes Liam was reacting badly to it. His heartrate kept going up and down. After 10 hours of him doing that they took me off for an hour. They kept checking me, but my body was making zero progress. So they put me back on and left me one for another 10 hours. My contractions were literally 30 seconds to 1 minute apart, and his heart kept dropping. So they decide to manually dilate me, so they put this balloon type thing in my cervix, blow it up with water (which hurt horribly) to about 4 cm and wait for it to fall out. So 6 hours later it fell out, so the doctor decided it was time to break my water. When she did, there as Meconium everywhere. She told me she wanted me to get an Epidural because she was certain i was going to be a c-section. So i got the epidural, and the babys heart dropped to 60, and the next thing i know they rush me into the OR, don't even count the tools or wait for my husband, and have the baby out in literally 5 minutes.
From that point on my life snow balled. After only being in the hospital 2 days, and repeatedly telling the nurses i didnt feel good i got sent him.
3 days later i am right back in the hospital, 104-105 fevers, that wont break with even the best medicine, on like 9 different antibiotics, and dying basically. They give me a surgery, which reopens my uterus to drain the STREP D infection. After that my fevers still wont break, and im severely anemic. To top it off, my bowels STOP working. So I have to have surgery number 3, so they can correct a bowel obstruction. Not to mention i had to have a tube put down my throat that went from my nose to my stomach because i was throwing up 1,000 CC of bile every hour. So all in all i had 3 surgeries in 15 days. I had my uterus opened 2 times. Does anyone, ANYONE have something similar to this? Something to give me hope... i am heartbroken that i didnt know more, so that this couldve been prevented.. And im heartbroken that my family size is limited because of that hospital. I know i got the infection from them, that hospital is known for it. But thats beside the point.. i just nee someone who is like me to tell me they could do a Vbac just fine.

Wow! I am sorry you went through all that! And I thought the staff infection in my stomach (as a result of a c/s) was bad! I didn't require any extra surgeries though. I don't know if a bowel surgery would prevent you from a VBAC or not. I never really thought about other surgeries affecting birth. I'm not a doctor, but my first thought was "Why not?". Every pregnancy is different and the circumstances present in your previous pg will probably not be present in this one. With the exception of the bowel surgery, you sound like a typical VBAC candidate. If your uterus opened 2 times, that would be like being a VBA2C, which is totally possible.

If I were you, I would consult a few OB's to get an idea of what they are thinking. Can you consult a midwife? I would also search VBAC stories on the web. Research a lot.

Don't give up before you even start! If I come across any stories like yours, I will post them for you

thank you!

thank you for your advice and help! :]
they didnt have to cut my bowels, they found the astring of whatever was cutting off my small intestine and removed it, but the cut is from my belly button down to my c section, with maybe an inch seperating them.

I'm so sorry for what you went through. You might want to join the ICAN yahoo group. There are so many people on there, that I am pretty sure there will at least be someone who has had a similar situation with followup surgeries, etc. It is also a great place for support and information. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ICAN-online/ One important thing to find out is what kind of incision they did when they opened your uterus both times. You might want to request a full copy of your medical records to find out all the details. A low transverse incision is the most ideal, but people have VBAC'd with classical and T incisions as well, so those aren't necessarily deal breakers. It is terrible what the hospital put you through, when it wasn't even necessary to induce yet anyways. Your body works fine, the baby just wasn't ready to be born yet. I really believe that you can VBAC, and given the bad outcomes of the first c-section, it really seems like the safer option for you. How could anyone tell you that a repeat c-section is safer, when you know first hand the great risks that can carry?

Anyways, good luck! I hope to see you on the ICAN yahoo group! You will be in good company!

First of all I am very sorry you had to go through so much pain and trauma.
My experience was not even close that traumatic, but still pretty similar. I was induced with my first child for the same reasons you have been iduced. However, they induced me with a prostaglandin gel, the dosage they gave me have caused my uterus to hyperstimulate I contracted with hardly a break, maybe 30 sec, inbetween contractions all day it was so painfull and unbearable I was nearly passed out by the end of the day. I never even dialated at all, so at night they gave me a medication to calm me down and next morning I woke up contractions gone and they started the whole proc. again with no result again no dialation, nothing....with my 2nd. pregnancy I did all the right things as far as nutrion etc. which kept me well and healthy. My BP rose at around 37 weeks but that was the only sign I had no other problems till 40-41 weeks, which I then gave in to a RCS, but It could have been different.

I am now pregnant with #3 and will go for a VBA2C , I am confident that every pregnancy and birth are different from each other and if everything goes naturally, we should be able to birth, even our previous birth's have been c-sections. All we can do is try to prevent or keep our body as well as possible to avoid the need for an induction or else, it's not always a gurantee, but hope, health and prayers should lead us on our way to bring our litle one to the world.
