heat rash?

For the past few days my 17 month old has had a rash that varies in intensity. The only part that looks sore is his diaper area, where it is red and dried out looking, with little tiny white pimples/bumps. Over his face and back/stomach he has these barely visible pinkish/white bumps. You wouldn't really know they were there unless you felt them, feels just kind of rough instead of his usually baby soft skin. I looked at pictures of heat rash, and it looks just like that. And it's been horribly hot here. And my in-laws may have l left him in wet clothes in the stroller while walking home from the water park.

At first I thought the diaper rash was yeast and treated it with topical creams, and it did nothing. He hasn't responded to diaper rash creams too, so I stopped.

I've been giving him lots of naked time and using just prefolds with no cover or wool and checking constantly for wetness so that he has no moisture there.

Any other ideas?

You might try a lukewarm or cool bath to try to cool his skin some more. Other than that I'd say you're doing everything you can.

My DH got a horrible heat rash in his groin area a few years back (due to a really high fever) so it's entirely possible that's all it is.

I agree, moisturize and naked time!
Does it seem to itch?
If it does not let up or of course, if it gets worse, head off to the ped.
My DS gets excema, and along with moisturizing, bathing as infrequently as possible has been very important. But I have had to take him to his ped a couple times for it-while he was potty training, it actually started to get infected! So just keep an eye out.

Good luck!
