Where was your baby during your 6 week Dr/Mw visit?

Okay, I'm kinda freaking out!! We use a convertable carseat, so no baby bucket. Typically I just carry William when we go places. I sometimes use the Moby wrap. Do I just wear him to my 6 week visit? If any mamas did this how was baby when you laid down?

I had a cesarean so I plan on just wearing a dress and pulling it up.

If theres no ne who can go w you, you can always ask the doc what they typically do. One of the medical assts can sometimes be asked to come in and hold.

I had a HB, so my MW was holding him during the 6 wk visit

Babe was home with DH, must say the MW was disappointed, she wanted to see him! LOL I wore a dress also, I think.

but yes, one of the med assistants can hold the baby I should think.

I brought him inside in the bucket because it was December and cold, he slept through the appointment. I remember that another midwife was holding a baby in the hall while the mom was having an IUD inserted. You should just ask, it shouldn't be too hard to find someone to hold the baby while you have your exam. Those offices tend to be filled with people who like babies.

I carried her in in my arms. I didn't think to carry her in her car seat oops that would have been helpful!

But a nurse held her while I was getting checked. And the doctor and nurses held her in the hallway while I got dressed, so it worked out ok (but I am sure they had work to do)

Now I'm Jonesin' for my midwife! I'll pay her a visit today while I'm out.

Okay so I shouldn't feel bad if I ask for a office person to hold him if I can't get comfortable laying down with him. I love not having the bucket so there's no worry about him being in it too much but man, it sure would come in handy some days!!!

I don't remember with my first, but I think dh was with me.

My second, one of the medical assistants very happily held her. (I was apologetic for her having to do that, but she told me they were always so happy when people brought their babies in so they could hold them. )

This last time, with the twins, my six week check-up was actually a twelve week checkup (oops) so we used the stroller AND dh came with, since I think it was the first time the babes were in the stroller.

I held him on my chest/belly My midwife worked around him! I think I layed him on the table while dressing (with one hand on him at all times of course!) I'm sure a nurse would have held him if I had asked though.

My pp visit will also be his well-baby visit (we have a family doc) and the office is within walking distance, so I'll put him in the stroller and have that available if need be.

I had baby laid across my chest. With baby #3, she didn't check me

My husband came with and snuggled our daughter while I was examined.

Both my babies were on me, being held, for at least part of the visit. My midwife got to hold the second while her trainee did part of the exam, but baby did not like trainee so for the confirmation exam, so she was on me.

Dh held the baby. He came with me to every prenatal and post natal visit.

Had my visit!!

I ended up holding William sitting on my chest as he 'talked' to OB down between my legs.

In my experience, the nurses or MW are very eager to hold the newbies! They love it!! I never worry about bringing DD to appointments because there are plenty of capable women to fight over who gets to hold her. I think it's a nice change for them since most babies come in in the buckets Not that buckets are bad for babies or an inferior choice.

DH came along, but DD slept the entire time in her bucket seat we were out--and I waited 2+ hours at the doctor's office cause he was delivering at the hospital. I worried about what we'd do for days, but she was good as gold! I wished she slept that many hours at night back then...

ok DH was working that day and it was just me and the babe. literally she just lay on my chest during the whole thing. i even had an iud put in haha. she nursed for part of it.

This. I nursed her during most of the apt.
