September 09 Birthday Thread

I don't know if there is one but we are starting to think about planning lol. His birthday is the 23rd but I have a 3 week old also right now so I have been just overwhealmed. What are your plans for the big day for your little ones? Any traditions you would like to share? What kind of gifts for 1 year old boy lol.. from a mother for 4 (7yrgirl, 4yrboy,soon to be 1 yr boy... and 3 weeks)... I don't know what to buy for my super active 1 year old... maybe a helmet and a cage??

I think the rest of us are babbling in our Sept 09 thread going on elsewhere.. and now a lot of us have moved to the Toddlers forum (scary!). You might want to check there.

But.. for me, DS's bday is next week. I'm still torn between the, "this is so silly"... and "I want!". I've made him a crown (cardboard and felt WITH straps) so he'll have a hat. My mom wants a cake, with sugar, for the attendees - which now seem abt 20 people. I'm still fighting her on sugar for the baby. I've got a few great recipes for not-so-sugary cakes, so he gets his own, topped with whipped cream... and can make a great mess of it. But also something the other kids can eat and enjoy as well.

Gifts... we are staying with what he is doing right now. Lots of puzzles. He's got the rings mastered, so, smaller rings. My mom bought him a vacuum cleaner/popper thing. While I might say, "argh" to the big plasticky thing... he'll LOVE it. He'll absolutely love it. Today she brought him a ball with sticky sides - he's never had a ball before, a Big ball. and the sticky sides, it was enough to grasp in his hands and force him to throw. Certainly not there yet, but he'll get there.

DS loves to get into DSS's room (who's 4) and work his Trucks. Especially those that have a remote control (on a cord). I think, because he wants to eat the remote and play with the cord. Not so much that he understands the connection. So I'm not focusing on trucks, yet. Still, puzzles and balls.

Today is my Cassidy's birthday!!!

We love her so much!!!

But she has a cold.

We're have a tiny party, just our family and my parents. Cupcakes (with sugar and frosting!) and sandwiches and fruit. No presents, because we have so, so much stuff already.

I just am so happy to have her, that she's part of our family. She's a fantastic little person.

My little guy will also be a year on the 23rd.

I sent out invitations last night for our bday 'open house'. Im planning platters of fruit, veg, cheese, maybe some hummus for the veg. I have the formed cake pan that my mom baked my first bday cake in and i'll make that for him. Not sure if im going to bake or buy a cake for the rest of the guests.

i was planning a big thing, "baby olympics." but i was losing momentum so at the last minute when dh said "you know what i'd want if i were a baby? to sit outside at a bar patio and have drinks." so we called up some friends and family and she had her cake, we had our beers, and we didn't have any people in our messy house. even my mom said what a great idea it was.

DD will be one on...

the 25th! I am excited but also feeling a bit let down by the fact that we can't do a lot this year... like we ever could any other year! HA! Anyway, a small cake for her, a few presents, and something memorable from me, daddy and big sis should just about do it. She won't realize that we did not buy her some toy. But...when she is 30 she will still have her keepsake gift which is what I want to get her. Not sure what that is yet....And we are buying a house which is all happening right now! My hubbie said honey, she will know you bought her a house for her birthday because we will still be living here when she is older.
