Help me find (cheap!) pants for 2yo

DS 1 has some interesting sensory stuff going on. Since he was tiny, he has preferred not to wear pants or to wear blue jeans only. Other pants just haven't ever been something he tolerated.

I'm ok with that, and have enough little boy blue jeans with room in the bum for cloth diapers to outfit at least 3 kids (I have two in almost the same size).

We just returned from the doctor's office with a diagnosis of dermographia (we're working on the origin) and directions to stick to things like stretchy cotton pants and short and long sleeved cotton tshirts- avoiding anything that might cause skin irritation. He advised against jeans or shirts with collars or buttons... and now.. about 90% of my son's wardrobe is stuff that's off limits.

Suggestions for sources of stuff that is less likely to cause irritation, but is still within reach of a very broke mama financially? I checked the thrift shops, but I live in cowboy-land- almost everything is jeans/button up shirts.

What about Target, Kohls, or Walmart? They usually have cotton pants for about $4/pair.

We have access to a Walmart about an hour away- I can check there. I had some from there when my daughter was small, but they were never 100% cotton- they usually had a bit of spandex or something in them. I will check though- I don't know why it wasn't on my radar.

If you have a Carter's outlet near you they usually have great deals on plain cotton pants.

not sure where you live but do you have a walmart or target nearby? If so Walmart's Garanimal line carries some cotton basics (tshirts, pants, sweat pants, long sleeve t shirts) and they are pretty reasonalble, usually under $6 a piece and thats the high end usually about 3-4 a piece. Most stuff is 100% cotton but a few things have a combo so check the tag.

Target's Circo lines is similar and they have basics as well. I believe both target and walmart can be bought online but definatley worth checking in store if you can get to one.

I think I'll brave the trip into town tomorrow- to check at Walmart. It is very rural here- the nearest mall is 4 hours away so Walmart is the only brick and mortar (ok, tin & steel) option, and I would really like to see if they are something he will tolerate.

I would try to find a Target and go in person the first time, find something that works.....then order online!!!

Kohl's also carries a nice line of cotton stuff.

Walmart carries good stuff, but I dont think they ship/sell online.

Walmart was a success. They had garanimals cotton cargo pants which are really more like a yoga pant with a pocket on the sides. If the pockets seem to be an irritation, I will grab the seam ripper, but they don't look like they should be a problem.

Whopping $3.50/pair.

I don't know how they will hold up but we can hope.
