Major purge!

The last two years I have really tried to get things in the trash or to donate or to a yard sale. Yard sale wasn't that great. I'm just going to donate or throw out.

I have a plan to really declutter my house. I have thrown away scads and scads and more!! So far it's like 50 clear bags full of clothes. BIG bags. Just clothes. And I need to go through again after that and get rid of half of it again.

My plan for september of this year is just clothes. Every month will be something different. Just wanted to post.

i find that the easiest way to cull clothes is to figure out what you NEED to have, find the best pieces that fit that bill, and then get rid of the rest.

you might decide, for example, to try the 15 piece challenge. it doesn't include accessories, work out clothes, or under garments. so, 15 pieces of mix-and-match basic clothes for you. use this model for your kids and your partner. then add layers for the seasons (spring/fall, we have undergarments for this season, and woolies for winter, and then our outter layers get heavier (and are layered) too).

pick the best, and let go of the rest. then, if something needs to be replaced, you replace it, and get rid of the old piece. it's amazing how rarely i shop for clothes, how little space it takes up, and how i do a tiny purge about once a year for things that are completely worn out.

good luck!

I bet that felt great! Good luck with the rest
We recently did a major purge and it has been fabulous. It was really hard at first because one of us sees everything has a value money wise and that makes it hard because yes we do need money. The reason it is hard is because you have to store/keep the stuff until someone finally buys it. The other person would like to just throw everything out/donate. We are trying to meet in the middle.
