I have been concerned with my dd's social skills and, at the recommendation of a friend, took her for an OT evaluation to look for sensory issues. We just got the evaluation back and I feel like I was kicked in the gut. Not only did the OT find sensory issues, but also gross motor delays, possible auditory processing problems, and possible visual processing problems.
The evaluation accurately described dd in terms of her personality and what she can and cannot do. But I KNOW (or at least I thought I did) that nothing is seriously wrong with her.
So, should I take her to a developmental pediatrician? Just do the recommended OT? What do developmental pediatricians do? Are they appropriate for kids like mine who don't have anything serious going on?
