Cramp Bark

Thread Starter
I am 35 weeks and have been having a lot of Braxton Hicks contractions (more than 4 per hour on some evenings). My midwife suggested I take Cramp Bark tincture to help relax my uterus and avoid going into pre-term labor.

From what I have read, cramp bark is very effective at stalling labor and is also good to use for afterbirth pains and premenstrual cramps.

Has anyone else taken cramp bark? I am curious about your expereince.

TIA!

Interested as well, my midwife reccomended the same and I would love something for afterpains since this is my 4th pregnancy and I can't take motrin.

I'm taking cramp bark. I'm taking it for a threatened m/c, though, so I don't know how much you can extrapolate to end of pg.

My cramps have really, really calmed down since I started taking it. I'm also taking Wishgarden's Wecome Womb tonic (black haw, false unicorn, wild yam)- so it is possible the reduced cramps are from that (or perhaps it is all completely coincidental?). I haven't had any s/e at all that I can tell.

It was suggested to me by a LOT of people that say it works great though!

I've used it through this pregnancy for leg cramps, in combination with valerian because then I wouldn't be able to go back to sleep.

I haven't used it for contractions because mine were strong/frequent enough to require oral brethine.
