This evening while helping my 4 1/2 year old in the bathroom I noticed she had 5 or 6 red, raised bumps on her back, in the area of her waistband. I asked her if they itched, she said yes, but she hadn't seemed particularly bothered before I asked her. She'd just been up from a late afternoon/early evening nap (she usually naps in the early afternoon, but didn't today) so I figured she must've gotten bit by a bug while she was asleep; she'd been sleeping on her belly with her back exposed.
A couple hours later when I tucked her into bed I noticed she has more red, raised bumps on her belly -- at least a dozen more. I'm pretty sure they weren't there earlier because she was being kinda bratty in Home Depot this morning and had her shirt in her mouth, exposing her belly to the world. I THINK I would've noticed a dozen red dots on her belly. She said these one itched, too, though again, I didn't see her itching them.
I can't imagine she got bit by a bug THAT many times. I haven't seen a mosquito all summer. She was out playing with a Mother's Helper-y neighbor kid earlier but I think she just rode her tricycle, I don't think she was crawling around in the bushes picking up bug bites.
SOoo... the Internet can't seem to come up with any better suggestions than hives, chicken pox, or bug bites. But I think Hives are a flatter sort of bump? and these were not flat-on-top bumps.
Anyone? She's supposed to go to her first ballet class of the semester tomorrow, and preschool starts next week.... *sigh* Not to mention that yesterday I took her to the parent/baby group DS attends, and she was all OVER those babies, all of whom were too young to get the varicella short (and they're not an anti-vax sort of crowd). DD is not vaccinated against CP but we haven't been looking for it, since DS is still fairly young.

She likes to sleep hot, though.
