nursing coverup, hard material inside like in udder covers

I wanted to make a nursing coverup for my niece like you can get from Udder Covers. There is a solid piece at the top where you look down at your baby. What is that solid piece and where can I buy one?

it's corset boning, and you can get it at most craft stores. It's pretty cheap, if I remember from various tutorials! I think you'll need about 14".
