Just had to share with those who might understand my obsession with my ds's poop, not that you all haven't heard enough about by now anyway!
We are now about 4 weeks into completely grain free (had been gluten free for many months) and he has been pooping every day, or maybe skipping one day here or there for the past 3 weeks or so.
We did have one slip in the middle of all of this when he accidentally ate like a few bites of rice pudding that was left sitting where he could reach it
.... (yes the kind with real high starch rice and heavy cream and sugar
) I was terrified because not only has he not had rice for some time but he has been dairy free for many months. We never have this in the house but dh made it for himself because it is traditional at this time of year for us. I think at that time he skipped a day pooping but went back to every day after that. His eczema did flare, though.
At this point I am sooo happy and relieved to be in the place that we are that I don't even mind the restrictions. I have learned so much from this journey so far about nutrition and real healthy eating. I feel awesome now. I did not even know that I felt bad before! At this point I feel like my ds having the issues that he has was really such a blessing in disguise for us as a family. He will be healthier for it also!
I just wanted to be some words of encouragement for those of you struggling with multiple food allergies/intolerances, gut dysbiosis and nutritional deficiencies. It is so hard at times to struggle through and not see progress. It has taken many months for us to see this progress and find the right combination of interventions and diet but it was definitely worth it. I know we have some progress yet to make but I feel like we are really on the right track and am inspired to keep finding a way to feed us on on restrictions and be happy about it!
Most importantly.... thanks to all of you for your support along the way!
