Safety of CD and carseat use? Xposted in Family Safety

Has anyone ever questioned or studied this??

I CD'd ds1 exclusively in your average bulky cloth diapers and never had a comparison. With ds2 I am using more trim cd's and some sposies. I have noticed I have had to adjust the straps not one but 2-3 inches!! to accomadate the diaper. If I go out later in the day with a sposie on, I have to pull the straps full force to tighten (meaning there was a lot of slack). I know there will be many hardcore CD mama's who do not agree but I am not so sure if there is much of diffrence than with the winter coat issues ie. too much bulk?? Thoughts anyone?

The issue with winter coats is not so much the bulk but down fluffy "air" filled material, a thick saw wool coat and needing the adjust straps is not an issue its adjusting to fit around poofy winter snow suits and such. SO unless you are diapering your little one in air filled poofy diapers its jsut not an issue.

I just noticed this the other day when I put him in a sposie- I had to tighten the straps a good 1.5 inches. ing

The seat belt may need to be looser but cloth diapers are layers and layers of thinner materials without much space for air... even with the pressure of an accident there won't be much that will change in the seatbelt because though there may be more bulk, it won't compress...

Plus part of the problem with coats is that it makes the straps sit too wide on teh shoulders, so the kid could slide out. A thick diaper wouldn't have this effect.
