Thanks for letting me know which version it was. I think I'll just check it out from the library instead of buying it in case I find it too hard to read all the way through. Now if I can only IMPLEMENT the suggestions/ideas of simplicity parenting..... wink1.gif

Are the piano lessons at your house, or do you have to take all the kids to the piano lessons?  B/c if they are at your house, only the child receiving the lesson at the time is busy, right?  Also, do they WANT to take the lessons?  If they want to take the lessons and do not mind the time commitments (heck, even enjoy them!), then I do not see it as a problem.  If the kids also feel that they need more down time, then I think you all would need to sit down together and look at your calendar and discuss the realities of budgeting time.  Ten and eight years of age is old enough to *start* grasping this concept.  Maybe one of them will decide that they are fine w/ just playing the piano on their own and not taking lessons for a while, who knows?

Since I am at the pool 2-3 times a week, I have my younger kids in lessons 2X a week, and then we stay and play for free swim. We all love music. But the weekly piano lessons for #1,2,3 take a lot of time, as does the practice. We also do one foreign language lesson a week (we lived abroad and we didn't want the kids to lose their second language, which was hard-won). So there we go. Fully booked. We don't have tv or watch movies, which helps since they do have time to play, but not as much as they want or need.
