Vaccinations and Food Allergies

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone might have some good information or maybe book suggestions on the possible link between food allergies and vaccinations?

My 2 daughters both have several food allergies, my youngest having the worse. She seems to have a sensitive system in general (had a very bad reaction to aspartame in a kids water drink at age 3 resulting in an ER visit).
We stopped vaccinating years ago after doing research on all of the vaccines and ingredients. I just wonder sometimes if her system is so sensitive due to the vaccinations she got until 4 months (plus a single Varicella at 12 months).
Thanks

I also wanted to add: The ONLY vax that I may consider in the future would be the Tetanus only vax for my 7 year old daughter. She has been vaccinated up to 4 months and so would need one more tetanus shot to complete the series. Our plan has always been to give her the TIG if she were to get an injury where it was necessary, but I am also considering possibly just getting her the shot now that she is older (I do get very concerned when she gets cuts/splinters but do use hydrogen peroxide etc.)
I am just not sure if she is more at risk for having an adverse reaction to the vaccine because of her food intolerances and her system being sensitive to other things as stated in my original post.
Do you think I should not consider giving her this vax given her sensitivities? Do you think I have a good plan of action with the TIG?

Thanks for any advice/input

Food allergies and vaccines have been discussed a few times before, you may get better links by using the Search function (upper right), then Advanced Search, both in this forum and the Allergies forum.

DS's immune system is fairly pathetic, he's got food intolerances but not allergies (not IgE, not anaphalactic or life-threatening in any way), and these factors play a role in me being sure that vaccinating him is not a good plan. Thing is--he's not vaccinated at all, he came into this world behind the 8-ball already. Some kids, for a variety of reasons, are more sensitive to all sorts of things. I am working to improve that, I think I'm seeing progress, and I think I can do a lot to improve his overall health and his resilience.

Both of my kids have several food intolerance and my son is anaphylactic to peanuts. My son only had his 2 and 4 mos shots (nothing at birth), but he was exposed to mercury in utero via a flu shot (kicking myself in the ass for that one on a regular basis). My daughter hasn't had a single vax, BUT she was given heavy duty abx when she was born. Both were born by c-section and I have heard that c-section babies are EIGHT times more likely to have food allergies - that's really significant imho.

I do have a friend whose son reacted to the tetanus shot. It's a bacteria, just like pertussis, so you can't create full immunity to it by vaccinating (afaik). If my kids get an injury that might warrant tetanus, I'd take it on a case by case basis and would likely lean towards letting the injury bleed and flush itself out and then clean it well and start some heavy duty vitamin C. But there are other factors to consider (where the injury was sustained, if the injury is open or deep puncture, etc).
