What snacks/food are you packing for the hospital?

I'm trying to decide if I want to just make a list of stuff for DH to throw in the bag on our way out the door (along with toiletries and a couple other things), or whether to have snacks already packed? If the latter, they have to be things that won't spoil...

What is everyone planning to take to the hospital? I wasn't hungry in labor with DS, but my doula is going make me eat after delivery this time (and who knows what time that will be, and how long it will take to get food from the hospital...). Last time, between a long labor that started in the middle of the night and nobody suggesting food, I went close to 36 hours without eating! oops!

My hospital still doesn't "allow" eating in labor, so I'm trying to think of snacks I can bring to eat little bits of when no one else is in the room to keep my energy up if I even feel like eating. I also have GD, so that makes it more complicated. Of course, I plan to stay at home as long as possible, so it's quite likely that by the time we get to the hospital, I really won't want to eat anyway.

So far, I have low calorie gatorade and Luna protein bars. I was also thinking of trail mix and string cheese and maybe tossing in a little fresh fruit if we have any as we are headed out the door.

I haven't even thought about PP food really. I don't remember how long it took the hospital to bring me food last time, though.... gotta think about that some more. There are a lot of food places near the hospital, so as long as it's not the middle of the night (again), I can always send DH out, but yeah, what if it's the middle of the night? Uh-oh...now you got me thinking.

LOL - yeah, DS was born at 10:07PM. I don't think I ate until lunch the next day! I just didn't think of it! Maybe I ate breakfast? And I hadn't eaten since dinner the night before he was born (so, by the time he was born, I had ALREADY gone more than 24 hours without eating anything but ICE CHIPS!).

I was thinking of dried fruit for energy. Anyone else have good snack ideas?

I brought jello fruit cups, apple sauce & lollipops. I went in the hospital around 9am & delivered around 5pm & I didn't want or think about the snacks until like a week later when I was unpacking the bags lol.

I am a food hog when it comes to labor and post partum. I had a BLT while laboring and French toast and bacon soon after DD was born. I will be bringing some snacks, cheese and crackers, fruit, trail mix well that is what I can think of for now.

Remember that in transition, women sometimes vomit. So nothing you don't mind seeing again, and nothing with hard/sharp chunks to it.

I took/will again this time take, an apple, a banana, some soymilk, herbal tea, maybe a slice or two of leftover pizza (assuming we end up living off takeout pizza at the end of the pg like my fam has before, there should always be a stash around).

There are plenty of 24 hour restaurants open in our area, I will just send df out once baby's here if I'm ravenous. I found that I could only tolerate eating a little bit right after my other births...I had to sleep for a few hours before I woke up with any real appetite, and by that time we were home from the birth center.

So far I have trail mix for DH and some emergen-C packets for me. I hate plain water and figure I can sneak them into a water bottle if need be.

I also need to figure out a way to take a rootbeer popsicle. I know this will sound crazy, but every single pregnancy I have to have a rootbeer popsicle. It's how I know I am about to transition. It's a transition tradition!

After things settle down, I always send DH out. First birth was Arby's, second was a meatball sub, and 3 and 4 was homemade chips from the local brew pub. He likes that one because he can grab a celebratory beer.
