What do you ladies think?

Okay, I'm mostly posting to keep myself from losing my mind, so bear with me if this is scattered.

DH and I have been TTC, on and off, for about 4 years. I am mildly hypothyroid since having DD 5 1/2 years ago, but it went undiagnosed until this time last year. My cycles had been incredibly irregular (month-long periods, months with NO period etc) until the last four or five months, when things finally evened out to something like "predictable enough to expect one every month but not necessarily on a certain date or for a certain length of time." OPKs have been virtually useless, since we don't have the money for me to take one every day (not even the Dollar Tree kind) and I haven't tried basal temping yet. I've mostly been going by my libido and CM to tell when I ovulate. My cycles have been between 27 and 34 days long. Back before having DD, they were a very reliable 30 days long.

Aaaaanyhow....

Last month I got my period on the 7th and it lasted until the 10th. That's a reasonable length for me. DH and I dtd on the 16th, then again on the 21st and 22nd. On the 22nd, I felt something that could have been ovulation pain and I was noticing EWCM in varying amounts that whole week. The 21st and 22nd, I used my Diva Cup immediately after dtd to try to "give the boys a boost" so to speak.

Starting a few days ago, I have been feeling very tired, randomly nauseous and oddly warm. I have been having what feel like very mild period cramps as well, but not constantly. My lower back is tender. My breasts/nipples don't hurt but they feel weird. I don't know how to describe it. They feel almost like they did when it was nearly time to nurse, but not in an uncomfortable way. None of these things is a normal PMS symptom for me, except the backache. I get period cramps DURING my period, but never before.

I have taken 3 Dollar Tree tests and all have been BFNs. I remember that with DD, the test line at the doctor's office was so faint that he said it was negative, while the nurse and I were squinting at it under a lamp going "No, I see something..." so maybe I just don't show much hCG in my urine.

Is it too early to test? Too late? What do you ladies think? I'm really hopeful this time, but I don't want to fool myself and be disappointed.

Well, if my calendar counting is correct, you may have ovulated on CD15 which could be reasonable, and then today you would be 13DPO... or maybe you O'd a day or too later, putting you at 11 or 12 DPO.

If you did O when you think you did, your timing seems pretty good, so I wouldn't rule out a pregnancy yet. Maybe wait a day or two and test again with first morning urine.

I got a bunch of BFNs before my BFP with my daughter.... and didn't get that until CD29, the day after my period was due, with a FRER. Some ladies are lucky enough to get early BFPs, but others of us are forced to wait a few more days.

I agree it could just be too early to get a bFP, but unfortunately most pg symptoms can also be pms or a virus or virtually anything - and especially when we are hoping and paying more attention, it makes those symptoms all the more promising.
So while i wouldn't lose hope, I would err on the side of caution and then be pleasantly surprised!

p.s. I highly recommend basal temping if you go on to a next cycle. The only thing that costs you money is the thermometer and it really gets you to know your body better - especially if you have troubles conceiving or have been diagnosed with the thyroid issue and/or have less predictable cycles. CM and libido is great, but even greater in combination with temperature, because those secondary signs can't guarantee you ovulated.

Thanks for the replies, both of you! AF is still a no-show, which is great. I've resisted the temptation to run out and buy a test. I think I'll assume that this would normally be a 30 day cycle and try to wait until the 7th or 8th. The wait is making me crazy but reading (at PeeOnAStick) that other women have gotten their BFPs as late as 20 days after ovulation, plus remembering how faint my BFP was with DD, has let me keep on hoping.

HulaJenn, I definitely need to do more research on basal temping. I'm not entirely sure how it works and the price of the thermometers always throws me a little. Can you use a regular, household thermometer? I really need to read more about it and see if it would work for us. It seems to do the trick for a lot of other couples.

Hopefully though- maybe, just maybe!- it won't matter, because I'll see a BFP soon!

My bbt thermometer was around $10, I think. Not more than $15, I'm sure. I know I returned the first one I got when I realized it didn't have a back-light to read those early morning temps.

Hopefully you'll get your BFP soon, and won't need a thermometer!

I tend to make a lot of HCG and fast and my $tree tests with this pregnancy were barely there (like they would probably have been considered BFN except I had taken an FRER and gotten a nice line on that, so I kept taking the $tree to watch the line come up) It didn't show up until 13 or 14dpo - and like I said, my HCG rises quickly - I'm usually in the twins range except I only have had singletons. So keep testing!
