"Welcome home, Daddy" rhyme or song?

I'm putting the finishing touches on our school planning (starts Tuesday...yikes! And yay, too!). I was thinking about our transitions and the one that I haven't addressed yet, and which can be a bit rough, is when Dadda comes home from work.

Does anyone have a suggestion for songs or rhymes to greet Dadda at the door? I think that if we have something prepared for him...a creation from the day in hand and a poem on the lips, well, maybe this part of the day might go a little more smoothly for everyone.

I already plan to make sure we turn on the outside lights and make the entryway beautiful before he comes home in the evenings. And I don't mean to smush that wonderful wriggly-ness that the kids have to see their Dad, I just want to contain it a bit so that no-one gets hurt and Dadda can get through the door in one piece.

Ideas?

Many thanks,
G.

well whatever you do don't use this one!
clap hands, clap hands
till daddy comes home
because daddy's got money
and mommy has none

We used to sing this one:

Daddy is home!
Daddy is home!
Mother, Daddy is home!
Time to clap our hands,
Time to beat the drum,
Time to have some fun,
Daddy is home!

It's kind of a boisterous song but it captured that excited energy and gave dad a nice warm welcome.

That's too funny! And, once heard, I could see it catching on at our house, so I'll not say it aloud.

Thanks, Aprons and Acorns. That's just the kind of thing I'm looking for...contained exuberance! Do you have a link or something to a tune for that?

What a good idea for a "coming home" verse. We have a rough transition when dh gets home, too, involving overstimulation resulting in crabby behavior. I've started instituting a "time to clean up" (with singing the way our Waldorf teacher does in Parent/Child class) about 15 minutes before dh's expected arrival. You enter our house directly into the living room which by late afternoon needs straightening. It works wonders for the whole family and sort of hits a restart button for the rest of the evening. And dh comes home to an uncluttered space!

I couldn't find one unfortunately. It's not too fussy of a song, more of a chant actually. It's a little bit like the "One Two, buckle my shoe" tune actually, except not quite. I am not very musically inclined. I hope this is somehow helpful information
