the name Therese?

Do you know of any variants to that name? I like Tessa, DH not so much
I do think that Tessa would go better with Theresa, but I definitely want it to be Therese. Not really liking the name Tara (used to know a Tara......bad taste left in mouth!)

Can you think of any variant ways to spell it? I am thinking of at least losing the H in it, so people will be less likely to miss-pronounce it...like Tereese or Terease

TIA!

funny that you put TIA (thanks in advance of course) at the bottom

as I know a Therese who goes by Tia.

One of my friends had a cousin from Brazil that was named Thais (pr. Ty - eese), I always thought that it was really pretty but thought that it would probably need to be spelled differently here in order to be pronounced correctly.

That is sooo funny!! I actually kind of like that.......It kinda reminds me of a show I used to watch growing up though - two twin sisters named Tia and Tamara

That is really pretty.......I don't think my husband would go for it though. He's sooo closed minded!

I totally watched that show! I can't remember the name for the life of me though!

Therese is the classic spelling, and I'd use it. Tereese/Tereece is a spelling I've seen used for men (Tyreece/Tyreese, too), and Terease looks too much like "grease" to me. If you want her to have a classic name that is definitely looked at as female, don't mess with it.

I'm actually really fond of Therese...with Tessa, Tess, Terri, or Tia as nicknames.

Well, I'm Catholic, so yeah, I know a lot of Thereses I love the name, but I don't like the spelling variants you gave. Terese would be better, imo.

Its a good, solid name. Not my style, but still a good name.

But I dont know that I'd stray too far from the spellings of "Therese" or "Terese".

I'd think that perhaps Tia, Tess(a), Terri, Reese, Tressie, and Tressa could be nicknames.

It's a fine name. Very Catholic. Tessa is a lovely variant!

I second the advice to use the traditional spelling, Therese. Tereece and Tereese look very peculiar, like unfortunate spelling mistakes. Getting "kree8tyv" with the classics is never a good idea.

i agree with those who say stick with the more traditional spelling "therese" or "terese". i actually prefer it with the "h".

i knew a "therese" growing up...we called her "taz". you probably don't want to call her that though.

i'm also partial to tess (that's my dd's name).

How are you going to pronounce it? I understand it's Teh-rez or tay-rez, correct? It's a pretty old French name, and I think most would pronounce it that way. So I'm not really getting the variants your thinking of. If I saw it spelled "Tereese" I wouldn't pronounce it that way, I would say, Teh-reese"

I do like the original name very much though.

See - it is pronounced Teh-reese even if it is spelled Therese. The reason I was going with a variant is because I googled it and they polled people who's name was Therese. They said their biggest complaint was that everyone mispronounced their name

I dunno - I have PLENTY of time to think about it, and I am not even SURE its a girl............that just seems to be our specialty

Thanks for all the help everyone! Keep em' coming if anyone has anything to add

Therese is better...I bet people won't make a mistake in pronouncing it, it is pretty common. It is a good name!
Tessa is great and I might name my girl that. MIL is Theresa so that would be kind of like naming the baby after her but not really.
A related name I really liked but my partner doesn't like is Tanith.

I think the s spelling looks more feminine.

I work with a Therese and think it is a nice name.

I do think the variants you propose look like a male version though.

I am another proponent of "stick with the original spelling."

My Aunt (a Theresa) goes by Terry.
