Joshua David was born 9/4 at 3:03 pm. 9lb .5oz, 19.75in. at 41w2d, he was 'cooked' the longest and had the most vernix. his little eyes were glued shut.
Joshua one hour old and then 5 hours old
After 2 homebirths, this was my first hospital birth (insurance, not health reasons). i was nervous going in, but my dr and nurse were terrific! they really tried to make my experience as close to a homebirth as they could. it was a funny labor, while i'd been having bh ctx none of them ever made me wonder if this could be 'it'. when i started having ctx friday night, from the beginning they were strong, though far apart. so much for RRL making for a less painful labor!
I had ctx all night, slowly getting closer together. went to the hospital at 5am, where the ctx spread way out for the next 8 hours (though they still hurt!) finally around 1pm my body decided it was in a safe place and things picked up fast. joshua was born 2 hours later, and just 15 minutes after my water broke. i still need to write up my birth story while it's still fresh in my mind. we came home this morning.

I'd rather we both be pleasantly surprised than not
