This morning I was reading MDC and my son woke up and sat on my lap. He saw a "Say No to Circ" siggy and asked me what it was. Long story short, even though I did not expect to have this conversation for another few years, we did end up having it this morning. He was shocked that people do that to babies. To my complete surprise he looked at me very seriously (as serious as 5yo can look LOL) and said: "Mama, I want to stop it. What do I need to do to stop it? I don't want anyone doing it to boys." Then he continued: "Perhaps we should invite all the parents and all the doctors to our house and tell them that they should not do it to the babies". I then explained him that there is a lot that he can do when he is an adult. I also told him what those bumperstickers meant (we have two anti-circ bumperstickers on each of our two cars). He wanted to know exactly what they said (he still does not read), so we went to the cars and I read every bumper-sticker for him. He thought that it would be much more effective to have "talking bumperstickers", so people could actually hear it being said LOL. He also asked me to spell "No Circumcision" for him (he can write letters) which I did and he made me tape this peice of paper to our front door (it was totally his idea from the beginning to the end. He had to compromise on removing it before our in-laws come (they arrived today from Israel). He also asked me if this is done to baby-girls (I guess for a child the connection between the two is obvious).
