Please help this rash!

So my kid never had so much as a speck of diaper rash through infancy, then, all of a sudden when she was getting close to 2, she got this horrible, horrible diaper rash that I just couldn't make go away no matter what I tried. We use all sorts of different cloth diapers, but even always having a fleece lining and changing her the second she pees (and I knew when because she would tell us) it would not go away. She was even mostly using the toilet.

Then I was pregnant and really sick so I just ordered some 7th Generation disposables and her rash cleared up almost right away. She stopped using diapers altogether before those ran out, so yay! problem solved.

Until baby came. Now she's peeing in her pants practically all the time, and back in diapers because I was done with cleaning up puddles of pee every 15 minutes. Before baby was born, though, we super uber duper stripped all the diapers, which is what I suspected had to do with DD1's rash, since it cleared up in sposies. But now DD1's rash is back with a vengeance. But DD2 uses (sometime literally in the case of the one sizes) the same diapers, I wash them at the same time, and she doesn't have any rash at all.

This morning DD1 woke up crying because her crotch hurt so much. What am I doing wrong?

This is just speculation, cause dd here had very similar reactions with accidents during pl'ing, but sometimes I wonder if around that time the urine gets stronger and more bothersome for their skin (instead of having anything that's going on with the diapers)?

Anyway I do think that it's pretty normal to end up with lots of accidents again with a new baby. I'd keep up changing more frequently, if you have little toilets you can have around multiple places (or just carry around the house) that might help, lots of reminders to whatever degree you can manage for her to try and keep her skin clean.

As for the rash - what is it like?
General stuff - keep her clean really well (using a peri bottle in the morning is a good idea, or whenever she really hurts). I loved badger baby balm for dd's skin - it's an olive oil base (you could just use some olive oil instead) - and I used it or had her use some every accident. Sometimes zinc would aggravate her rash - but using just a teeny dab of a zinc cream with the olive oil worked ok and wasn't too much.
We also did 'puddle baths' (just enough to get her bum wet in the tub) almost daily with a bit of baking soda.

Yeah, I think it must be her and her pee and not the diapers since DD2 doesn't have any problems.. it seemed likely before I stripped them that after a couple years maybe it was the build up on the diapers, but not so much now that they are stripped and okay on the baby.

I'm not too worried about the "accidents," I know they are normal after a new baby. We do have a couple little potties, but she's peeing herself deliberately so it doesn't really help She smiles at you and says, "I'm peeing in my pants." At least it makes it easy to get her out of the wet diaper immediately.

As for the rash, around her bum and crotch it's real spotty, sometimes pimpley maybe? On her crotch it is just red, puffy, and chappy and definitely what hurts the most. Prior to our switch to sposies before, before she stopped using diapers and before baby, it would get to open sores, though. It was awful I started washing her as carefully and gentley as I can with vinegar water, but so far no help, and she cried bloody murder when I do. We've been putting Waleda calendula diaper cream on it (This started maybe just over a month ago) I'm not sure it's irritating it, it does seem to help a little maybe? But it certainly isn't going away. I'm afraid of it getting to open bleeding sores

We unfortunately really can't afford any sposies right now, my husband and I are both out of work at the moment and trying to figure out what to do. (We just closed our home daycare) I don't exactly like using disposables but when I couldn't win the battle against the rash and she was bleeding I stopped caring so much I'll try cutting out the diaper cream and using olive oil instead, and the baking soda baths. I'm trying to explain to her that peeing in her diaper is giving her the rash and that if she uses the potty it will get better and stop hurting, and although she seems to understand and agree, it doesn't have any impact. I just hope we can keep it down as much as possible until she is through this.
