Hi Ladies...so I have moderate to severe psoriasis on my scalp and I really want to dread my hair but I'm worried about how the psoriasis will affect them. Do any of you have experience with dreads plus psoriasis?? Thanks so much!

I sectioned and back combed my hair about 6 weeks ago. My scalp goes back and forth from being pretty angry and being calm and 'incident' free.
The thing I hate about having dreads with a scalp issue is that my flakes end up in the dreads, and I have black hair. So I feel like the flakes are screaming "LOOK AT ME!!!!" even though I think it may not be very obvious to other people.
An important thing to remember is you still need to wash your hair! I don't know why so many people think you never wash your hair with dreads.
I tried going no poo, and using baking soda and apple cider vinegar...it didnt work out the best for me. I have found that if I shampoo every two to four days with a generic TGEL shampoo, then I use a gallon jug filled with water, 1 cup of apple cider vinegar, and about 10 drops each of tea tree oil and grapefruit seed extract as a rinse. Make sure to dry your hair very well. (don't wash before bed!)
If I am having a bad day, and feeling really itchy-and its too soon to wash, I use a spray bottle with purified water/tea tree oil/GSE...and just spray the part of the scalp that is bothering me the most.
I was surprised at how flaky my hair got, as it didn't seem that flaky when it was brushable, but I think that is because the flakes fall out easily when your hair is brushable, so dreading it does make it seem more obvious...but I do feel like my scalp is adjusting to the new routine, and I realize it will go through cycles, just like it did when it was brushable.

thank you so much for the info!
On the days that you dont shampoo, do you take a shower? Do you let them get wet or try your best to keep them dry in the shower??
Do you by any chance have pictures of your dreads that you wouldn't mind sharing? And maybe even pictures that highlight what you would consider to be a bad flake day?? Thanks so much!
